A mother who called Music Support’s Helpline less than a year ago shares her experience of the impact it has had on her family….
“I stumbled across Music Support by accident. I didn’t know where to turn anymore and found this organisation. My son was spiralling out of control with alcohol addiction, and we needed help fast. Once the connection had been made, they have been non-judgemental, offering my son and our family advice, support, and guidance around his addictions and mental health.
They have been that missing link giving my son and family hope. They made funding applications and signposted the family to various helpful and valuable resources that have been crucial in keeping the family from completely falling apart.
It is still less than a year since, as a mother, I made that first initial phone call to the helpline not really expecting a fast-moving response. However, they were immediate and quick in their actions and follow-ups.
We had been crying out for help for over six years, been let down and nothing was happening for my son, the situation remained dire. Music Support never gave up; my son is now in rehab and working on his recovery. They have been pivotal in helping to secure the funding, resulting in my son now receiving the intensive treatment he needs to help him overcome his addiction and underlying mental health issues.
He is now at a stage where he has begun to understand the complex issues in his life which bought him to this low point and is making lifestyle changes to help him on the road to recovery.
As a family we cannot praise Music Support enough, because of them we can now see light at the end of the tunnel.”
Music Support is proud to have partnered with PRS Members’ Fund to raise the funding for the beneficiary’s treatment.
Without the help of our wonderful partners, supporters, and volunteers we would not be able to help transform the lives of our peers affected by mental ill-health and/or addiction. We are forever grateful, thank you.
