Mental health challenges can affect anyone – artists, crew, managers, freelancers, promoters, agents, venue staff and everyone in between. Knowing how to respond with compassion and confidence can make a real difference which is why we offer Mental Health First Aid training courses.
What is Mental Health First Aid?
Music Support’s accredited Mental Health First Aid training gives you the skills to recognise when someone may be struggling, start supportive conversations safely and help guide people towards the most appropriate support. Just as importantly, the course also encourages greater self-awareness and understanding of your own wellbeing.
Delivered by licensed instructors and accredited by Mental Health First Aid England, this course has been specifically tailored to those working in the music industry.
The course is delivered in four sessions from 10am-2pm across four days.

Is there a cost to attend?
Thanks to the ongoing generosity of Stage Hand and Backup Tech, we are able to offer 80 places on our Mental Health First Aid course free of charge. These are fully funded for industry professionals who meet the following criteria:
- Self-employed
- Working full-time in a freelance capacity as crew/production personnel or in a touring role
- Aged 18+
- Work in the UK

If you don’t meet this criteria, you can book a place on the course at a cost of £325 per person. If you’d like to discuss a group booking for your team contact us.
Mental Health First Aid: Refresher Course
If you’re a Mental Health First Aider, you have lifelong skills to support yourself and those around you. Just like physical First Aid, Mental Health First Aid training should be kept up to date. It is recommended by MHFA England that skills are refreshed every three years to renew your certificate.
To renew your MHFA qualification, there is a cost of £150 per person. Please email us to book.

Want to make sure your team feels better equipped to support both themselves and each other? Our two-day Mental Health First Aid course gives music industry organisations the confidence, skills and understanding to have supportive conversations around mental health and wellbeing.
What your team will learn:
- Understand mental health and the factors that affect wellbeing
- Spot early signs and triggers of mental health challenges
- Support a colleague experiencing distress or in crisis
- Guide people towards appropriate support and recovery pathways
The practicalities
- These private group sessions are only available to music industry organisations. Individuals will need to book onto one of our regular sessions.
- A two-day face-to-face course delivered across four manageable sessions
